Eco Warriors
Welcome to our Eco Schools page 2022-23. Together, we are encouraging positive changes to ensure that the Twiss Green community is an eco-friendly, sustainable place to learn and thrive.
Eco Schools Green Flag Award
This year, we are working towards achieving our ‘Green Flag award’ and are delighted to be making Twiss Green an eco-friendly, sustainable place.
Firstly, we completed an evaluation of what we already do at school and what we need to improve on. When we completed this environmental review in Spring Term, we felt that our strongest topics were ‘Healthy living’ and ‘Global Citizenship’. This evaluation process also highlighted the areas that we weren’t as strong in and as a result, we have chosen the following topics to focus on in our action plan:
Waste
Litter
School Grounds
As a group, we created our action plan and thought about how we can make meaningful differences in these chosen areas.
Waste
Our aim is to reduce the amount of waste that Twiss Green sends to landfill.
Litter
We are striving to educate all children at Twiss Green of the impact that litter can have on the environment and develop a community of children who are passionate about making our community free of litter by organising litter picking events.
The Twiss Green Easter Litter Pick Challenge
Well done to all of the children who took part in the Twiss Green Litter Pick Challenge and for taking the time to make a difference in our community. Here are just some of our litter picking heroes in action:
School Grounds
We recognise the potential that the Twiss Green grounds have and we would like to utilise them to not only encourage biodiversity, but to also create a sensory garden.
